In converting the Blade Runner White Dragon cut to HD, I am re-rendering the CG scenes in HD resolution.
The Los Angeles 2019 CG scene presented this article has re-made several revisions for the HD version.
- Detail up of the pyramid towers
- Multi-stratified of the skyscrapers
- Added billboards on the skyscrapers
- Changed the color of the spinner patrol lights
- Overall color adjustment

Until now, the computer graphics of skyscrapers were just made with pasting a single photo of night views of skyscrapers onto a single plate object, which was good in SD quality, but in high resolution of HD, it seems that there was no depth at all.
I think the best way to solve this problem is to create skyscrapers from scratch in 3D, but it would take a huge amount of time to put different textures on each object of the buildings. Also, I don’t know if I can create a realistic skyscraper image with my CG skills without trying.
As a desperate resort., I placed four object of plates in front of and behind each other, which used to be one board, and pasted different photos of the nightscape on each of them.
Since the four objects of plate are placed back to back, the apparent movement speed of each object will be different in response to the camera’s movement. and it worked well.
